Celebrating a new name and look, The Baby Show is now basking in
the glow of a terrific result from its inaugural event.

Dona White, CEO of North Port Events comments, "We're thrilled to
report our total attendance was 12,982 which is slightly up from
2011. However, the real sign of success is the overwhelming
feedback from exhibitors and visitors alike with record numbers of
exhibitors signing for the 2013 show - our litmus test of a good
show!"

Codey Goodall and Grant Hartley from Huggies comment, "The
engagement that you get here face-to-face with consumers is not
like any other type of sampling we can do for the brand. We can
talk about new products, talk about their concerns, we also learn a
lot as well."

Jose Rivalland from iCandy said, "The Baby Show offered us a
successful foray into the New Zealand market and we certainly hope
for continued growth for the brand", while Totally Devoted staff
commented, "it was a fantastic sampling opportunity for us and we
were blown away by the feedback we received - and the sales!"

Richie Watson from Kiwi Living Ltd agreed, "It's the Bathurst of
pregnant women… there's just babies and children everywhere. With
the product that we do, it just suits the market perfectly."

Dona White created the show when she was raising a young family,
catering for caregivers of pre-school children, expectant parents,
doting grandparents, aunts and uncles, or anyone involved in
bringing up littlies.

"My children have become young adults, but I am still
overwhelmed by the response we get for this show which offers
everything for the baby and beyond - there's always a great vibe
when likeminded people come together under one roof and this year
was no exception," says White.

Boogie!

With a performance that promises to match an infectious debut
album, Zoo Boogie is eager to position itself as the most popular
entertainment group for New Zealand toddlers and pre-schoolers, in
a market that is largely dominated by the likes of Australian
supergroup The Wiggles. "We thought it was about time Kiwi kids
added a little boogie to their wiggle", jokes Zoo Boogie front man
Blair Dale.

Locally written and produced, Zoo Boogie's debut album features 7
original songs as well as a couple of reworked children's classics.
But Zoo Boogie does not exist purely to entertain. The group was
formed out of a desire to positively impact thousands of young Kiwi
families. It's mission - to strengthen families and communties by
helping to shape the character of young children.

"We wanted to create entertaining music and loveable characters to
teach and demonstrate values and principals which we believe are
influential in helping to shape a strong character in young
children", says Dale. "We want to teach children from an early age
to put the needs of others before their own, to lend a hand, to be
faithful & good, and that it's cool to be kind. These are the
themes that flow through our songs and live performances."

Zoo Boogie's music clearly carries a message for young children
and their families. The Family Song which features on Zoo Boogie's
album and in their live show speaks clearly too young children and
parents about the importance of the family unit and speaks out
against family violence.

"We can't wait to hit the stage at The Baby Show this year", says
Dale. "I know the children are going to fall in love with the
characters and the songs."

Zoo Boogie is performing twice a day on the entertainment stage at
The Baby Show, which runs from October 26-28.

Since inventing the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap, developing different
models for different markets, plus the practical little HEADwedge.
Safe T Sleep has now done it again and is launching a simple, yet
effective addition to the Sleepwrap called the 'Houdini Strip'. The
little Houdini Strip will give extra closure-protection to the
babywrap part of the Sleepwrap making it even safer for little
Houdinis.

Significantly the product remains a comfortable 'wrap' with no
harsh or potentially dangerous fixtures.

Practical, trialled, time-tested, quality designed Sleepwraps are
offering parents and caregivers peace of mind in the face of
recognised infant sleeptime dangers.

Preventable infant falls were the initial motivator for Miriam
developing the Safe T Sleep® Sleepwrap®. Statistics in most
'developed' countries (in the 0-2 age group) show that nearly one
in five hospital admissions due to falls, involve falls from
cot/crib and beds in the 0-2 age group.

A mother of three, former positive-parenting educator with a
nursing background, Miriam Rutherford-van Gisbergen, originally
designed the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap to be used in conjunction with
loving, nurturing, positive, trust-building parenting skills to
keep her own babies safer and more comfortable whilst sleeping;
both at home and away.

Even when using sleeping bags many parents are still choosing to
use the Sleepwrap as well for their babies for snug, more restful
sleeping; extra protection and their own peace of mind.

Statistically almost a quarter of the world's SIDS (or 'cot/crib
Death') babies are found with their faces covered; others are found
with heads jammed hard up against cot bars or underneath bedding or
large soft toys.

The Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap product helps to keep babies face's
clear reducing the risk of suffocation. With young infants it can
be used over traditional swaddling for extra safety by preventing
the swaddle coming loose.

For older babies reducing the risk of falls and injuries, and also
aiding in a safer transition from cot/crib to bed and providing a
more practical, compact, lightweight method of travelling,
visiting, camping and boating.

Made from 100% (scientifically tested) breathable cotton fabric,
the Sleepwrap leaves arms and legs free to allow a wide range of
natural, flexible movements according to individual babies ages and
stages of development. Babies aged 0-2 years plus are able to
do everything they are developmentally ready to do at their
particular stage of development. The only things they cannot
do are all the things which may pose a danger to them.
Since 1992, hundreds of thousands of babies worldwide have slept
safely in the original, tested, Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap. This in
spite of 0-2year age group statistics that show a continuing
incidence of preventable falls, fatalities, injuries, clicky hips
and 'flat deformed' heads.
"Prevention is nearly always better than cure" says Miriam.
Fortunately the Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap in conjunction with the
little Safe T Sleep HEADwedge have already been used successfully
over many years to help ensure that baby's head stays in alternate
positions at each sleep. This helps to prevent flat spots
developing.

A key international cranio-facial plastic surgeon, Dr Tristan de
Chalain, undertook Independent Hospital clinical trials of the Safe
T Sleep Sleepwrap and formally assessed its ability to effectively
enable varied stable sleep positions to be selected and maintained,
while still complying with current official safer sleeping
advice.

The Sleepwrap comes in a variety of bed sizes - fitting most
standard mattresses from bassinet to king beds and everything in
between, anywhere in the world!

"It is merely an aid to positive parenting practices. Just
as a carseat has been designed for safety while travelling, the
Safe T Sleep Sleepwrap has been designed for safer sleeping and
those few moments before and after sleep" says Miriam.

Just as babies become attached to a familiar cuddly blanket or
toy, when used with loving, nurturing parenting skills, the Safe T
Sleep Sleepwrap can become a familiar comforter associated with
sleep, providing security and safety even in unfamiliar
environments: "My own daughter loved her Sleepwrap so much
that she used to lie on her bed at age three years, and do it up
herself!"

"If baby sleeps safely, restfully and well everyone
benefits. It certainly benefits caregivers and families and
makes parenting more enjoyable," says Miriam.

Bambino Mio, UK's number one selling reusable nappy brand has
arrived in New Zealand - set to save Kiwi parents thousands of
dollars they would otherwise spend on disposables plus diverting
tonnes of rubbish from landfill.

Parents change a baby's nappy at least 6000 times by the child's
third birthday, which results in about a tonne of disposable
nappies going to landfill for each child.

At 50 cents per disposable nappy that's over $3,000 per child over
three years thrown away. Around a million nappies are thrown into
landfills every day in New Zealand.

Bambino Mio's 100% cotton nappies with biodegradable liners offers
a complete range of reusable nappies suitable for newborn babies
through to children of potty training age to suit different
lifestyles.

In contrast to the traditional cloth nappy, modern reusables are
easy to use, soft against baby's skin and have the benefit of
reducing waste, saving thousands vs disposables and being free from
harmful chemicals and plastics present in disposable nappies.

The
Bambino Mio nappy system is continually being improved using the
latest technology. The unique two-piece nappy system is now seen by
the majority of parents as the leading mainstream, high performance
reusable nappy brand.

The following accessories are also available:

Miofresh - antibacterial nappy sanitiser

Miosquares - made from 100% cotton, these soft muslin squares
have a number of uses

Mioliners - nappy liners which are 100% natural, flushable and
biodegradable

Wet nappy bag - ideal for transporting wet nappies or swimwear
when out and about

Mioboost - a super absorbent fabric insert designed to increase
absorbency when needed. Ideal for use overnight

Change bowl - ideal for use when changing baby, one side for
the dirty nappy, the other for clean water

Nappies Direct (www.nappies.co.nz) was a
pioneer in the early days of online retailing, setting up in 2002
when online retailing in New Zealand was still in its infancy, they
were even the first company in New Zealand to process credit cards
transactions online.

Launching at the Auckland Parent and Child Show in 2002 (now the
Baby Show), Pia D'ambros started the company when she was only 27.
She and husband to be, Kevin Smith were not yet parents but they
could see the convenience and appeal for mums to have their baby
products delivered, as getting to a supermarket when you have one
or more young ones can be a major undertaking . Pia and Kevin chose
the best brand in each category; Huggies nappies and Avent bottles,
they then made sure that their prices were everyday low prices so
they could compete with supermarket retail specials and took a huge
leap of faith.

Nappies Direct grew from strength to strength, first operating
out of the D'ambros-Smith family's garage. Pia started out by
including a hand written note with every order that was shipped, a
tradition which is still observed today, even though some days they
can ship 600 orders to New Zealand mum's around the country.

Like all small business, there were many challenges along the
way. The greatest challenge was in fact Pia having her own babies!
"It was the start of the perpetual balancing act that all mums
face" explains Pia. "The business was my baby, until I had my own.
There was a constant pull from both my maternal instincts and the
fact that the business was growing at such a phenomenal pace, that
it couldn't be ignored." Pia goes on to explain that "juggling
family and work is eternally difficult but very rewarding. Finding
the right child care and the right number of days to work and not
work is a fine balance, and we love that Nappies Direct have helped
10s of thousands of Kiwi mums find that balance over the last 10
years. We've had many customers who have used our service from
their first baby through to their fourth". "Mums today are
increasingly time poor and the work/life/family balance provides a
constant sense of guilt for a lot of mums. New Zealand mums
especially do absolutely everything themselves. If you look at
other countries in the world, there is no shame in having a cleaner
or a nanny but there is a real stigma here in New Zealand. If you
are hosting a coffee group then you feel that you have to have the
entire house spic and span and offer a range of freshly baked,
gluten-free snacks for both the mums and the children. You are
meant to contribute financially to the household, make all meals,
do all cleaning and laundry, entertain your children with
educational games and toys and entertain on the weekends. If you
are not achieving all of this then the guilty feelings and
unworthiness can creep into your thought cycle. It's ridiculous how
much New Zealand mums do, but they do it so well".

Over the last 5 years, Kevin and Pia have given birth to our two
gorgeous boys Leonardo (3) and Roman (10-months) and have also
grown Nappies Direct into an innovative and award winning company
which now ships nappies, bottles, toys, formula, pharmacy items,
fragrance, mens and women's skincare items and much, much more to
busy homes everywhere. Nappies Direct is now one of New Zealand's
greatest e-tailing success stories, engaging with over 35,000 mums
who have chosen to join on their growing online community,
receiving weekly e-news. Pia also engages with their 2,500
Facebook fans daily. "I love the fact that our Facebook community
is unashamedly un-PC" she says. "We've always said from the start,
we are not experts - just mums doing our best. If you can't get
your child to eat their veggies, our mums at Nappies Direct and our
Facebook mums are more likely to tell you to cover the veges in
melted cheese or drown them in tomato sauce. This is not the advice
a nutritionist is going to give you but they are tried and true
methods from real mums." Pia also attributes their growing online
communities success due to being "women first". "We are not always
going to be talking about our children and parenting simply because
we are mums. We will talk about hairstyles, TV shows and current
affairs - news titles she clarifies laughing, not actual
'affairs'!!!".

The team of five at Nappies Direct have one common goal - "we
try to delight our customers with nice touches and surprise gifts
included with every order. "We've built a lot of touch points into
our customer sales process which makes purchasing from us more
special than buying from anyone else" Pia says proudly.

Pia and Kevin explain that going forward; they see massive
opportunity to continue growing at the break-neck speed they have
experienced over the last 10 years. They wish to remain at the
forefront of the online retail community and have some exciting
opportunities and partnerships with Plunket in the near future that
will see them grow bigger and become even better in the coming 12
months and beyond.

The new Nappies Direct website launches July 1st www.nappies.co.nz and to
celebrate we're offering readers the chance to win one of 10 x $50
vouchers to use online.

This October Nappies Direct will celebrate their 10 year
anniversary and to celebrate we're giving away a major prize to one
very lucky Facebook Mum - a years' worth of Nappies FREE!To enter,
