The Future of New Zealand Baby Food

WEDNESDAY 6TH JUNE 2018

An entrepreneurial kiwi business is set to revolutionise the baby food industry.

Future Foody want to change what we as a nation are feeding our babies, to create a healthier and happier next generation of super foodies.

The company is New Zealand’s only fresh, 100% organic online delivery service and gives time poor parents the option to choose different meal plans for their babies, tailored to their age and delivered directly to their doorstep.

Husband and Wife team, Annelise and Ryan Clarke formed Future Foody after they started their daughter Tallulah on solids.

Being a first-time parent, Annelise states that she didn’t realise how busy life would be.

“You want the best for your kids but it’s hard for anyone to find the time to buy fresh produce then slave away in the kitchen chopping and pureeing vegetables. I was juggling mum and work life, and thought wow, this is really hard! Wouldn’t it be great if we could come up with a fresh, healthy solution to support parents navigate their baby’s starting solids journey?

We are extremely proud and excited to launch Future Foody and cannot wait to offer delicious, nutritious, fresh food for busy parents to feed their baby’s. We are proud of our organic produce, we know our growers well, how they grow and the ethos behind their growing. We want to raise super future foody’s with amazing palates, all while taking the guess work out for busy parents.”

Ryan adds, “We couldn’t believe that there weren’t any options to buy fresh baby food. I noticed the shelf life on some of the products and thought why would I feed Tallulah food that is older than she is? She had Pneumonia when she was born and spent a week in NICU, we saw diet as a way of healing her gut to overcome this and this is what drives us to make a difference in what kiwi bubs are eating today”.

Annelise and Ryan have a huge passion along with extensive knowledge of food having owned various cafés, as well as award winning restaurants Miss Moonshine’s, Gypsy Caravan and The Street Food Collective in Ponsonby, Auckland.

Future Foody’s qualified, NZ registered nutritionist Larissa Beeby, who has previously worked for the New Zealand Heart Foundation designing and implementing healthier menus for early learning services says that “Babies nutritional needs are crucial in the first 1000 days to ensure growth, development and overall wellness.

We know first-hand that your baby starting solids is an extremely exciting time but it can also be an extremely confusing time. It’s a massive developmental milestone for our babies and like most things baby related there are a lot of opinions out there. That’s why we created Future Foody, to help parents navigate their way through this milestone.

We have also created a community Facebook page, Future Foody Starting Solids Group, a place to share with other parents any ideas, recipes and challenges they are having.  Moderated by myself, we are here to support parents every step of the way.

We don’t use any added sugars, salt, preservatives or additives, nothing artificial, only the goodness of the ingredients. Future Foody covers three stages, beginning solids through to more advanced eating, with a huge focus on vegetables. We use iron rich foods, iodine, healthy fats, zinc, protein and prebiotics for healthy growth and development.”
