The Father & Child Trust was founded in Christchurch in August 1997 by a group of dads who wanted to support each other as parents, bring a male perspective into child-raising and address the lack of services for New Zealand fathers.
We aim to provide all fathers with any help they need, information and support, a safe place to strengthen our dad stuff, possibly form new networks and often just make us feel good about the most important job in our lives. We are not preachy and don’t lecture anyone on how to bring up their kids, we offer and share information for couples to make their own choices.
We produce 'Why Dads?' booklets for mums, dads or family professionals to help them encourage involved dads
Our office in Onehunga is open for calls, drop ins and appointments 10-2 most days, 7-9 every weds night
